After many months of physical therapy in the fall and some treadmill running at our gym over the winter, I thought it would be good to get out and try running for real. I took it very easy as I'm way out of shape.

Hi Ravi! Sounds like you have been in the wars with your knee. I just wrote an article on my blog (I do a lot of work on running mechanics) about the dangers of treadmill running and how it doesnt really prepare you to run in the real world. Check out this article if you are curious to find out:
